The true character of a dog lies in the face so I find a head and shoulder portrait works best. Please see here the diverse range of dog breeds I have painted. Visit my commissions page to start the process of me painting your dog.
One of the things I like about painting dogs for people is that every few months I get the opportunity to paint a breed that I haven't before. I enjoy the challenge of looking closely at the form and musculature of these animals and trying to replicate them exactly, capturing the character and attitude of each one.
Horses are notoriously difficult to photograph as often the ears go back and their eyes look very wary as they intelegently weigh you up. It takes a while, but eventually they settle and I can gain their trust. Head and shoulders show the true character of a horse so this is my preferred method for a painting.
Some artists dread trying to paint horses and struggle with angles and proportions especially in the jaw and mouth area. I relish the challenge and although I've never owned or ridden horses I love their grace and form.

Cat portraits can be commissioned and I find that head and shoulders work best. Please see my commissions page to start the process of me paining your cat.
